My journey with Hungarian Vizslas started in 1981 with a bitch from the famous Abbeystag/Waidman lines; this was my baptism of fire and the beginning of my Rainscote Kennel.
My judging career for the breed started in 1985 and I was passed to give CC’s in 1992. In 1990 I was gifted a dog from a friend, Angela Boys, of the famous Galfrid kennels. Kipps became a champion, gaining 3 CC's and 3 RCC's. His homebred son, Rainscote Risky Business, gained 2 CC's and 5 RCC's, sadly I lost him to fibrosarcoma at the age of five. Rainscote Rio Gold won a CC. I exported a dog, Rainscote Raba, to Hungary (Skyrocket Kennel) in 2003, later followed by Vedanta Var Via Rainscote owned by myself and Eva (Crawford kennel) he became an Int/Hungarian Champion.
I judged Wirehaired Vizslas at Crufts in 2002 (the breed did not have CC status then) and later in that year I judged CACIB in Hungary for Wires and Smooths, which was a great honour as I was the first person from the UK to judge these Hungarian breeds in their home country.
I had another Crufts appointment to judge Hungarian Vizslas in 2009 and my third appointment at Crufts was in 2011 to give the first set of CC's for Hungarian Wirehaired Vizslas - what an honour. Later this year, (2023) I will be judging The Hungarian Wirehaired Club of GB and Darlington Championship Show for Smooths. My last dog, Sh.Ch Daxpack Risk Taker at Rainscote has had a super career winning 12 CC's and 7 RCC's. His puppy career started with BIS/BPIS followed by winning his first CC at 11 months, and a RCC as a junior under a Hungarian judge. He gained his Champion status at The Hungarian Vizsla Society Championship Show in 2017. In 2019 he gained BIS again at this show.
I have also awarded CC's in German Wirehaired Pointers, since 2008. This is a hobby that I do in a professional manner, whether judging, showing or breeding, and most of all I simply love dogs. |
